Hockley is buzzing at the moment with new businesses opening and established businesses moving to the area. Mitch Farr founder of specialty coffee shop Effy has recently relocated to Heathcoat Street in Hockley to bring an extra special selection of coffee to the local area. This grand old shop unit, with high ceilings, deep plum walls and stained glass windows is now home to one of the city’s finest specialty coffee shops. They offer a changing selection of specialty coffee served as both espresso and pour over and regularly feature the more progressive and experimental coffees from world class roasters. So while you can get an excellent flat white or other such classics, it’s worth exploring the more unusual end of the menu where you will find coffee with highly unusual taste profiles. While it’s easily a great place for a regular cup in the morning, it's also a great place to take friends to explore their very special coffee menu. But it doesn’t stop there. Not satisfied with just making great coffee, Mitch and his team have installed a bakery in the basement and they are knocking out some great pastries everyday too.
