Future-proof your home’s energy
Fruit Market is an opportunity to secure an energy efficient home for the future.
With an air source heat pump, high levels of insulation, high specification windows and underfloor heating on the ground floor, our homes are designed to be energy efficient all year round. Here are some of the features and benefits:
An air source heat pump
Widely used throughout Europe, air source heat pumps are rapidly becoming a popular energy efficient alternative to the increasingly outdated traditional boilers fitted in most homes. Air source heat pumps are a tried and tested technology that has been used in Europe for decades and are the the future of UK heating systems.
How does it work?
An air source heat pump converts heat from the outside air even in the depths of winter to heat your rooms via radiators or underfloor heating.
It’s commonly used in Scandinavian countries where winter temperatures are much colder than the UK. Typically air source heat pumps are up to 300% efficient meaning they can convert one unit of electricity to 3 units of heat. By comparison, a gas boiler is only 98% efficient.
It heats water through a cylinder to supply your home with hot water whenever you need it. Heat from the air is absorbed into a heat exchanger and then into the heat pump, which raises the temperature and transfers that heat to the water in the system.
Combining air source heat pumps with high levels of insulation and underfloor heating makes an excellent energy efficient alternative to a traditional boiler.
Does it require much maintenance?
Similar to a traditional boiler, an air source heat pump will require an annual service to maintain good working order and ensure the system is functioning efficiently. Typically, the life span of an air source heat pump is 20–25 years, almost twice that of a modern traditional boiler.
Minimum ‘EPC B Rated’ as standard
An EPC rating is based on the overall energy efficiency of any home. Homes that are Rated B have a high level of efficiency that exceeds most modern homes. if you choose to add solar panels to your home, this could increase to ‘EPC A’ rated.
No gas
With the recent rise in energy prices, a home that is free from gas heating and kitchen appliances could be a major benefit.
The benefits of underfloor heating
Underfloor heating is more energy efficient than traditional radiators. When combined with high levels of insulation, underfloor heating will retain heat for longer and require less maintenance than traditional radiators. It is also more comfortable, as heat rises from the floor providing a warm surface to walk on during winter months.
Well insulated with a low heat demand
High levels of insulation is quite simply the cornerstone for all energy efficient homes. With levels of insulation at Fruit Market that go beyond building regulations and most modern homes, the very fabric of the home will significantly reduce the need for heating throughout the year.
Modern high performance windows and doors
Cheap windows and doors can really let a new home down in terms of both energy efficiency and the look and feel of the property.
At Blueprint we insist on using high specification windows in all our developments that perform to high energy standards and provide a modern architectural feel both inside and out.
The window units for Fruit Market will be highly insulated and have excellent thermal performance. Designed with slim profiles these windows and doors are stylish, durable and have minimal maintenance requirements.
